About

Welcome to my blog,  "Dear Emma Grace"!

I really do believe that we can pass on memories through food.  As long as I can remember, food has been a part of my life.  My Maw-Maw (Bonnie) and Great Aunt (Mary) owned a family style restaurant in Phenix City, Alabama.  Likewise, I have vivid memories of my other Grandmother,  Bammommie (Dolly), pouring dressing into that incredibly old dressing pan that could have been outlined in gold as far as I was concerned!

How old are we when we start remembering things?  Three, Four, Five years old?  Who knows, but whatever the age when they began, they are precious to me, especially since they have all passed away.

Growing up, my Mother was inspirational to me in her quest to learn to cook.  Although her mother was a great cook, she knew nothing about cooking when she married.  She worked at it until she learned through trial and error!  Thankfully, she was a quick learner!  She made some incredible things and has continued to make those delicious, cherished childhood favorites today.  Additionally, I was so blessed to marry into a family where I have a Mother In Law that is also a great cook!  She has inspired me many times and I love making my husband's childhood favorites with her recipes.

If that's not enough, I am a cookbook and recipe collector.  I have many bookcases filled with cookbooks and files of recipe clippings that represent YEARS of collecting.  You might even call me a recipe hoarder.  Okay, I admit it.  I have no shame!

I am very blessed!  My husband and I have been married for 21 years and have a 5 year old daughter, Emma Grace, and a 9 year old Australian Shepherd named Lucy.  We live in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.

I hope you are building food memories! Come build some with me!

With Love,
Kristin
